Cancer Risk with a High-Fat Diet
China, Japan, and Singapore, where the majority of the population consumes a low-fat diet, have the lowest incidence of breast cancer. Countries that have a higher percentage of fats, such as England, Scotland, United States, have a greater incidence of breast cancer. Estradiol, one of the most powerful natural forms of estrogen is increased in the body by 30% when a high-fat diet is followed. Many breast tumors are fueled by estrogen.

Garlic & Breast Health
Garlic & Breast Health
Numerous studies over the years (more than
30 different studies to date) have documented the anti-cancer properties of
garlic. The strongest evidence so far has focused on digestive cancers, but
garlic appears to protect against all types of cancer, including breast and
prostate. Scientists have isolated two
active ingredients in garlic, allicin and allyl sulfur, and demonstrated that
they prevent and fight cancer in both animals and humans; you can take garlic in
supplement form but the capsules must be enteric-coated to protect these active
ingredients. Add crushed, fresh garlic to your meals whenever possible.

Kale & Breast Cancer
Did you eat your kale today?
Kale, a green leafy vegetable, is considered to be anti-inflammatory. It belongs to the brassica/cruciferous family of vegetables, containing a compound called indole-3-carbinol. Research shows that this compound has the ability to change the way estrogen is metabolized. This information is important when discussing the relationship between high levels of estrogen and the breast cancer occurrence in some women.

Broccoli & Breast Cancer
Cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower and brussels sprouts have more nutrients per serving than many other vegetables --- nutrients called phytochemicals providing health protection by decreasing the effects of cancer-causing chemicals.
The most active of these phytochemicals DIM acts as an anticancer agent, having a direct effect on the hormone estrogen and how it is metabolized. Excessive prolonged exposure to estrogen has been associated with serious health problems, including higher incidence of breast cancer. DIM promotes beneficial estrogen metabolism and helps restore a healthy hormonal balance.
In addition to eating raw (or minimally processed) cruciferous veggies, DIM is also available in a capsule form as a dietary supplement.

Breast Cancer & Carbohydrates
Did you know that there is a strong evidence between carbohydrates consumption and breast cancer? Studies have shown that women who ate high amounts of carbohydrates (about 62% or more of their total daily caloric intake) were more than twice as likely to have breast cancer as those eating fewer carbohydrates. Note---the greatest risk comes from sucrose (table sugar).

Anti-cancer Superfoods
Blueberries, açai berries, raspberries,
and cranberries
The rich, dark colors of blueberries, Brazilian açai berries, raspberries and cranberries come from phytochemicals that protect against numerous types of cancer. Most recently, researchers at the University of Florida found that the active ingredient in açai berries destroyed cancer cells when tested in cell cultures. And blueberries and muscadine grapes contain compounds that recent research shows cause cancer cells in the liver to self-destruct. In studies particularly important to women, cranberries have recently been discovered to be an important weapon in the fight against deadly ovarian cancer.

Your Deodorant
Your deodorant....You use it every day, perhaps even twice a day but have you ever consider that some of those ingredients could be harmful to your health? Parabens and aluminum, two ingredients commonly used in many deodorants on the market today, can in fact increase your risk for breast cancer! Scientific research shows that parabens have estrogenic activity in human breast cancer cells! Additionally, most breast cancers develop in the upper-outer quadrant of the breasts and it just so happens that area is closest to the lymph nodes exposed to deodorants!
So the lesson learned today? Check your deodorant! Go to your local health food store and get a natural deodorant without the parabens and aluminum!

Understand Your Cholesterol
It is very important that you get the facts when it comes to cholesterol. First of all, what is cholesterol...it is a white waxy fat found naturally in your body---it is one of the most important molecules in your body because your body uses cholesterol to manufacture steroids/hormones. It also produces bile acids essential for digestions of fats. Cholesterol is a building block for all your tissues because it stabilize cell membranes. Wow! I bet you were not aware of all these crucial roles! Now...why would you want to get rid of your cholesterol?! It does not make sense! Yet thousands of people are prescribed cholesterol lowering drugs every day! The majority of these people don't even need the drugs! Yummy Snack
I'm a firm believer in eating small meals and snacking throughout the day. As you all know, nuts are one of the most nutritious snacks we can include in our diet. Sometimes, we get tired of eating the same boring, unsalted nuts but I found a solution to that little problem Cashews with Pomegranate and Vanilla. Shall we say, "Yummy!" Not only are these guys nutritious but they are all natural and have just the right amount of sweetness to curb your sweet tooth! A must have in your purse!
